A Soldier's Letter Referencing General Custer. In a May 21, 1865, letter to his wife, the man discusses enclosing "a copy of Genl. Custer's address to our division," which he asks her to preserve carefully, as "when I come home I intend to have it framed, isn't it splendid and all true. I feel proud that I belong to the 3rd Cav Division, and that our Brigade is the fighting Brigade."
