THE SOMERSET & DORSET RAILWAY IVO PETERS S & D PHOTOGRAPHS FROM 51 YEARS AGO 1964 PHOTOGRAPHS COURTESY OF JULIAN PETERS SUPPORTING THE S & D TRUSTS AT MIDSOMER NORTON, SHILLINGSTONE & WASHFORD This calendar contains thirteen photographs taken by Ivo Peters during 1963, showing scenes on the former Somerset & Dorset Railway. See second photograph for information about these carefully selected photographs. Cover Picture: S & D 2-8-0 No.53807 was the last member of this famous class to have remained in service. On the day prior to Ivo taking this photograph, the loco had made a final revenue earning trip with the 11.00am Bath to Evercreech Junction freight(see June illustration). Following its return to Bath the 2-8-0 was turned, taken out of service and positioned at the head of a line of other withdrawn locomotives to await her fate! Proceeds from the sale of calendars helps us at Midsomer Norton to rebuild the railway towards Chilcompton Tunnel. See progress on www.
