Asian AntiquesChinese Porcelain and CeramicsSong-Style Ceramic PillowCrouching TigerIron-Brown GlazeGenuine Ch'ing Dynasty, or earlier (19th C. or before)A very charming antique Chinese ceramic pillow done in the shape of a crouching tiger decorated in an iron-brown glaze. The glaze is deep and crackled in places. The tiger measures 10 1/2 inches (26.5 cm) long by 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm) wide, and 6 inches (15.3 cm) in height. This is a genuine antique piece purchased from the Dorotheum Auction house in Vienna, Austria in 2006. However, the exact age of the piece is challenging to determine. The exposed base is darkened from age, including an old chip. T is also a chip at the ear (the water filling hole) and t is soil and residue (old leaves) inside the piece. From this, it can be inferred that the piece is at least from the 19th C. or earlier. The style of decoration is very reminiscent of iron brown-glazed ceramic pillows made in the shape of a variety of figures from the Song Dynasty (10th to 13th C.).Apart from the chip at the ear-hole, the piece is in very good condition. A charmingly decorative and imaginative piece of Chinese ceramic art. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Returns: In same condition, will be refunded. Returns must be postmarked within 7 days of receipt.
