Hi everyone! After making original flying geese sculptures for Spring and Fall, some Christmas ones had to follow. This holiday goose has a wreath around her neck and reins made of gold stars and white balls. Her passenger is a red and white Pembroke Corgi and I imagined them on a magical flight.I've sculpted this completely by hand from ceramic clay to be unlike any other I will do. I began by forming the goose, the Corgi and Santa hat, the wreath of greenery with flowing red ribbons, and the reins with stars and balls strung on fireable wire. After detailed painting and adding a small wire loop to the hat for hanging, I fired this piece twice at high temperatures in my studio kiln. 22kt. gold was then added permanently to the stars with another firing. I've signed and dated this on the bottom, Barbie Sonnett 2006.Measurements: 4 1/2" in width, 2 1/4" in total height, and the wingspan is 4". The included stand is 8 1/2" high on a 3" diameter base. This sculpture will be equally at home hanging on a Christmas tree, or in front of a window.I've been selling original animal sculpture as a fulltime profession since 1982, and for the past 5 1/2 years on eBay.
