Sony E-mount adapted KONICA 40mm f1.8 Hexanon "Pancake" Manual Focus Prime Lens - 7088216Offered is a semi-legendary Konica 40mm f1.8 Hexanon "pancake" manual focus prime lens, adapted for use on a Sony E-mount "mirrorless" Interchangeable Lens Camera. This is definitely a "cult lens", and is either the best-kept or worst-kept secret, depending on who you are talking to. To the knowledgeable, it is considered one of the sharpest, most colorful small format optics you can shoot through. The Konica faithful are only matched in enthusiasm by the Pentaxians, and they snap up the exotic Hexanons as soon as they learn of one being available. Until recently they were almost free, as they are longer than other 35mm lenses, and could only be used on Konica 35mm film cameras. All of that has changed with the introduction of the "mirrorless" Interchangeable Lens Cameras. The super-short mount flange-to-sensor plane distances of an ILC makes adapting AR mount lenses a snap. It is hard to imagine a more suitable lens to have on a diminutive Sony NEX than one of these gems.I have recently learned that the new Sony A7 II has a metal bayonet that does not fit well with most aftermarket adapters. Some of my clients with the A7 II have been testing various adapters for me. It appears that both the Fotga [Prost] adapter and the Fotodiox adapter do not have the fit issue. Still, if you have this camera and have an adapter you prefer, then I would be willing to ship it without the adapter, and refund $9Talk is cheap, so I prefer to let the glass speak for itself. These sample images were taken with this lens adapted to my Sony NEX 5n. The shots were taken without filters, and they were uploaded from the SD card to eBay uncropped, and unaltered in any way. These are Fine JPGs, and have files sizes ranging from 2MB to 6.5MB. Of course eBay shrinks them down with their software, but if you double- For all captures the camera was used in Aperture Priority mode, and the White Balance was set to Auto. Images #3, #4, and #5 were shot at ISO 400 with aperture ring set to f11, and shutter speeds ranging from 1/250 th and 1/800 th of a second. Image #8 & #9 were at ISO 100, and had a shutter speeds of 1/125 th and 1/60 th, at f11. The bee had a shutter speed of 1/640 th of a second, ISO 800, and the aperture was f11. The night shot of downtown Reno and the "train trench" was handheld at maximum aperture of f1.8; ISO 1600; metering was switched to Spot; and the camera selected a shutter speed of 1/125 th of a second.This Made in Japan optic is graded as in GOOD condition, exhibiting minor indications of prior use, such as paint loss on the trailing edge of the focus barrel. Front and rear elements are nice, and the aperture is free of oil and snappy. The focus action is damped, and the aperture ring detents are medium and definitive. It arrives with the Fotga Konica AR to E-mount adapter with rear cap, and a front Konica lens cap.Glass Disclaimer - Frequently, lenses, even when brand new, will have a slight amount of dust visible within the lens elements.
