Athearn HO Scale SOO SD40-2 DC Model With Proto Power West Drive Here's a classic Athearn HO Soo Line loco that's been custom painted by its previous owner. It's an "OK" job, just a lot of grime weathering via grimy black. I didn't do much with it when it was taken in on trade other than check it over mechanically, but most folks will find it's more than acceptable with a Mashima can motored Proto Power West Athearn conversion drive. The loco was flat finished and sealed. This is a DC model, not DCC. If you run DC or just enjoy custom locos, this one is for you. The unit is basically newer stock Athearn with plastic railings. The ditch lights don't work and the lens area is painted white. The stock Athearn "cab lighting" was used. Basically, it looks like a newer shell placed on an upgraded drive from the older Athearn line. It will be carefully packed. For the experienced modeler, DCC conversion on this loco is pretty easy now that a can motor is installed. The front coupler is a long shank Kadee so the loco would m.u. and track well around the previous owner's layout and clear the plow. The rear is a standard #5. Will need a little detailing to be made perfect, or use the outstanding drive on another shell if SOO isn't your thing. Make it yours today! Shipment will be via USPS Priority with Del.
