SORA MITSUAKI - Japanese Woodblock Print LARGE 1st 1969 SORA MITSUAKI Wind and Moon Date: December 1969, titled front and back, numbered, dated, and signed on front Size: 12.25" x 18.5" Condition: Very good, some minor wrinkling; otherwise excellent condition Impression: VG, hand signed in pencil by the artist, and numbered 42/100, titled on verso in pencil Color: VG, deep saturated color and bleed through to verso Sora Mitsuaki was born in Hiroshima in 1933. In 1957 he graduated from the Tama College of Fine Arts. Worked for Sears Roebuck and Company in Tokyo 1957-1961. Toured Mexico and U.S. 1963-1964. Created some sculpture for Olympic village in 1964 and landscape garden using stone sculpture for Bunkyo Women's University in Hiroshima in 1965. Solo exhibitions of moku-hanga almost yearly at Yoseido Gallery from 1962. Prints often depict strong interlocking organic or geometric shapes. --'Guide to Modern Japanese Prints: 1900-1975' by H.
