DETAILS OF ITEM This is a vintage Japanese diorama of a pair of souvenir (omiage) nodder Kokeshi dolls of the comedic bumbling traveling duo known as Yajisan and Kitasan. It measures 5.5 inches high by 4 inches wide. Yajisan who is shown to the right has a frown due to the long arduous journey while Kitasan is smiling ready to take on the challenge ahead. The writing on Yajisan's hat reads "Hakone" w this piece originated. Hakone national park is located up a steep mountain pass with lots of trees and beautiful vegetation. The diorama shows the two hiking over a fallen tree to give the sensation of the incline required to get to their destination. The condition is very good and its age is from the 1960's.
