SOW- Spearhead Of the Week - Humboldt Obsidian Spear 5.75" long X 1.4" wide This auction is for nicely flaked Humboldt Style Spearpoint. Made from some pretty nice obisidian that has some sheen to it. My SOW or Spearhead of the Week has some nice flaking , shape, and its sharp! If your just looking , thanks for stopping by. Thanks and Good luck on bidding! My name is Tony Gomez , and I am a modern day flintknapper. I use percussion methods to thin and reduce spalls and flakes of the finest flints and cherts to a preform stage. A second step or technique I often use to finish the point or blade is at least 2 passes of oblique parallel flaking using a pressure flaker or ishi stick. Oblique parallel flaking is a very efficient method of thinning that was used by the ancients and leaves a pleasing aesthetic pattern. Antler and copper tools are used to make this modern reproduction of one of the most ancient art forms. Shipping will be by United States Postal Service using Priority Mail @$4.25 , provided that the point or blade isn't longer than 7 inches, otherwise to protect the piece of modern flintknapping art longer pieces will have to be shipped using a flat rate box @8.25 .
