This auction is for a spectacular circa 1960 - 1970 Chinese hanging scroll painting of a blue green landscape after the famous Chinese master artist Zhang Daqian (1899-1983). It is painted with ink and watercolor on paper, right inscribed with colophon, bears signature 'Daqian Jushi Zhang Yuan' and three seals. Overall dimensions are : 78.75''h x 18''w on the entire piece and sight: 38''h x 13.25''w. This artwork is stunning in person, has age appropriate wrinkles and wear but in overall excellent condition. I have included a side by side comparison of this painting with a Daqian Zhang museum masterpiece that depicts the exact same scene. I cannot say whether this master artist ever created multiple works of the identical scenes but this example of his technique and artistry is exemplary. I wish that I could read Chinese and tell you the story but the signature is all I know for certain. Thank you for looking! original.
