Stunning Japanese woodblock print in original by Kunimaro (active 1850-1875) of the great warrior, General Akechi Mitsuhide. Here he is, escaping after his defeat at the Battle of Yamazaki by Hideyoshi's forces. He is riding his horse across Lake Biwa in the Omi Province. He wears a horned battle helmet topped with horned demon head, and an elegant black vest with a fierce dragon on it over his armor. The famous Pine Tree at Karasaki can be seen ahead in silhouette in the distance, the ancient branches propped up on stilts. Oban size 36 cm x 73 cm or 14.2" x 28.7". This woodblock print has several condition issues, soiling, creasing, stains, some small mendings, some paper remnants on the reverse side. Regardless the condition, I won't be lowering the price on this dramatic design of this legendary warrior, very rarely seen! Please look at the photos, sold "As is" no returns.
