This is a specimen of Sphalerite (Zinc Iron Sulfide) with Galena . The Sphalerite is comprised of a jumble of intergrown crystals that appear opaque black with a silvery luster and hints of red and t, but looking closely you see they are actually dark amber colored and are somewhat translucent. The Galena occurs as small steel-gray crystals in the shape of triangles, cubes, or octahedral modified cubes. The specimen is 2.6 inches by 1.75 inches by 1.6 inches. It weighs 5.7 ounces, or 162 grams. This specimen was collected 69 years ago by two Russian geologists with the Soviet ministry of geology. It is from Dalnegorsk, Primorskiy Kray, The Far East Region, Russia . I combine shipping with other purchases or auction wins.
