Up for auction is a lot of the first five very hard to find issues of Spider-Man Pocket Book, Marvel Digest Series, which were an unusual format smaller (8x5) sized magazine, published by Marvel in 1980. These 50 page "Pocket Books " are an odd hybrid, neither true card stock digests, nor standard comic sized, and certainly far smaller than the large, thin magazines to which their intended audience was accustomed, and so proved unpopular and short lived in duration. Those factors alone are usually enough to ensure miniscule print runs, and thus rarity ... add to the mix that these were never sold in the US, strictly produced by Marvel for UK readers ...and you have some rare Spidey variants indeed. This digest sized magazines also feature great, campy Star Wars (Empire) ads on the verso's, as appropriate for the era, and are in excellent high grade condition...which is also rare for these books when found. Most retain all of their original, triple gloss, and the majority are in beautiful shape...which again, is rare for these types of books. Just a great lot for true connoisseurs of eclectic, rare, vintage Spider-Man variants and ephemera.
