This is the most magnificent Candlestick I have ever seen; a splendid example of Art Nouveau style at its best! Made by the Pairpoint pany of New Bedford, Mass., it is Quadruple Plate Silver; marked #6167, as well as the patent date of February 23, 1904. The design is so Art Nouveau!...t are lilies at the top, the main body, and the base; the main body design depicts the lilies in full bloom on one side, and on the other, 2 open lilies and 2 "spent" blossoms. Long lily leaves form the sensuous elongated "urn" shape. The top "drip" guard is made up of stylized petals with a scrolled edge; 2" down from that, t is a second guard of slightly more elaborate "petals". The base is also a stylized flower shape, with two more of the lily motifs on the shorter sides, and leaf scrolls on the longer ones (the base measures 4 3/4" x 5 3/4")...in its entirety it measures 11" tall, and is extremely heavyweight (no "tipping over" worries !) It is practically flawless (no wear to the silverplate whatsoever), with the exception of some tiny pin-point dings along the bottom. They do not detract in any way, as far as I can see. You won't be disappointed in this marvelous, turn-of-the-century piece! (Muppet is very excited about it, herself!) Thank you for looking!
