This is the most magnificent pair of Candlesticks I have ever seen; a splendid example of Art Nouveau style at its best! Made by the Pairpoint pany of New Bedford, Mass., they are Quadruple Plate Silver; marked #6155 under the maker's mark. The design is so Art Nouveau!...t are Hibiscus blossoms at the top, the main body, and the base; the main body design depicts the blossoms in full bloom on one side, and on the other, 2 open and 2 "spent" blossoms. Elegant leaves form the sensuous elongated "urn" shape. The top "drip" guard is made up of stylized petals with a scrolled edge; 2" down from that, t is a second guard of slightly more elaborate "petals". The bases are also a stylized flower shape, with two more of the Hibiscus motifs on the shorter sides, and leaf scrolls on the longer ones (the bases measure 4 3/4" x 5 3/4")...in its entirety each candlestick measures 11" tall. The pair are in very good condition (no wear to the silverplate whatsoever), with the exception of some very small dings along the bottom, and, near the floral designs on the base, some small scratches that I suspect were made from candle wax being removed. They are very small and, to me, unobtrusive; the most noticeable is a tiny "x" scratch on one of the bases (see the last photo)~I put a penny on the base for size reference, and the scratch is right above read more
