Hello. Up for sale is a RARE 50th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force commemorative plate (1918-1968). It was made by Spode China in 1968, and comes complete with the original felt lined hard shell latching case, certification card, and all of the heavy original outer packaging. It is # 4039 of just 5000 total plates produced. The outer edge of this gorgeous plate is rimmed in 22 carat gold, and the plate itself is in MINT original condition. On the back of the plate it says: The Royal Air Force Plate 1918-1968 With the approval of Her Majesty The Queen and by order of the Air Force Board this plate has been created to commemorate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force. Of Five thousand plates made, this is number 4039 Spode BONE CHINA ENGLAND. On the enclosed card it says: The Royal Air Force Plate was designed by Harold Holdway, Art Director of the Spode Factory. The badge of the Royal Air Force is depicted in the center of the plate and at the border are the badges of the three organizations which can claim it's parentage: the Royal Engineers who took the first step in 1911 when they formed an Air Battalion and the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service whose men and machines joined together in the Royal Air Force in April 1918.
