SS GREAT BRITAIN 1843 - 1970 MEDAL COMMEMORATING THE SHIP'S RETURN TO BRISTOL. This medal was struck to commemorate the safe return of the ship from the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. The story of the return of the ship is quite an interesting one in as much as the ship was loaded onto a huge floating barge which was towed from the Falklands to the UK - this was no mean feat! The medal is slightly tarnished and has been kept in it's case from new. I have never tried to clean the medal. The medal apart from the very slight tarnishing is unmarked however, there are some marks on the outside of the case. Please note, this item is supplied from a smoke free home.
