For my husband and I, frequenting estate auctions has becomea hobby of sorts. Pair that with my penchant for vintage items, upscale towns with a lot of "old money" surrounding where we live in CT, and a closet that's bursting at the seams and you've got the perfect storm. I simply cant keep everything I find, even though I'd love to! At a recent estate auction, we were excited to find that the owner hailed from the former Western Germany, and had lovingly preserved a small selections of collectables from her homeland. Here we have an awesome collection of Authentic and very rare 9 Piece Set of Staffordshire Blue Transferware by Canova. Staffordshire Blue Transferware by Canova , 9 pc set Includes a serving platter, covered soup tureen, and 6 dinner plates. Measurements: Dinner Plates: 10.5” dia Soup Tureen: 13” Length, 9” Width Serving Platter: 15.5” Length, 12.75” Width * No Reserve * No Reserve * No Reserve * Markings of note: · “Canova – T Mayer, Stoke upon Trent” is imprinted on the base of the serving platter. (My research on this marking dates the piece between 1826 and 1835) · “Canova Stone Ware, G Phillips, Longport” is imprinted on the base of one of the six plates.
