Staffordshire White Castleford Type Teapot c1810 ~ TWO CLASSICAL MOURNING SCENES IN RELIEF ~ Almost 6" tall to the finial ~ 9" from spout to handle A white flespathic stoneware teapot and cover molded with classical figures to each side with acanthus leaves and foliage to the sides, all trimmed in a cobalt blue enamel line. It is impressed '22' to the bottom. The cover is a slide cover which fits in perfectly. I keep this lid scotch taped to the side as I had another teapot with a slide cover which slid off easily and fell to the floor in 10 pieces. This is in very nice display condition, all the pottery clean and bright looking. There is a fine hairline that runs along the bottom of one side (seen below); a few nibbles under the spout, and the underside of the cover has a shallow chip which you would never know till you looked. There are also two chips from the handle. Thanks for looking, No Reserve! Please see the other English / Historical Staffordshire / porcelain / pottery / soft paste / pearlware / creamware I have listed.
