Pair of very old and very beautiful pearlware Staffordshire sheep. 19th century. 9-10 cm long, 10-11 cm high. Open bases.Condition good for age - firstly the ewe - the main body of bocage has been repaired, and there are chips missing from the rear aspect of the bocage, e.g. behind her neck. There is a small chip to her left ear.The ram - the bocage is in good order, just a couple of hairline cracks to the rear of the base. The ram's snout is flattened compared to the ewe's more pointed nose, but this looks to be an intentional detail. There are flakes of paint off the base of both sheep. Hopefully all these small defects are visible in the photos. There is no restoration save for the bocage repair (main stem) on the ewe.
