Nice Refinished Frank A. Stallman Brand Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Signed Brass Lock With Key, Original Manufacturer's Label, and Interior Divided Tray is a nice looking refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. It is considered a flat top, although t is a very, very slight arch to the top, hardly noticeable even in the side view picture. This trunk comes with the trunk maker's label on the inside which reads, "Frank A. Stallman Manufacturer of Stallman's Dresser Trunk Theatrical and Commercial Work 31 & 33 W. Spring St., Columbus, O." . This trunk also has the original signed brass working lock. It is signed, "F.A. Stallman Columbus Ohio". This beautiful trunk is made up of pine or poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been prepared and finished with three coats of polyurethane. T are some typical beauty marks in the wood. These include some older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with black leather straps. The front latches are cast iron, pretty nice looking, and have been painted in gold leaf. They do work properly.
