Lot of 5 stampless covers, dating 1830's to 1850's, each with a different postmark, and with a variety of rates and rate markings. 3 have their original letter contents. Includes: 1) "BOSTON/MS." red cds, and manuscript "6" rate on folded cover addressed to Rev. Vail at Cambridge, Mass. Notation on back dates this cover to 1837. 2) "FOXBOROUGH/Ms." red cds, red "PAID" and manuscript "3" rate, on 1853 cover addressed to Mr. Ruel Cobb, at East Mansfield, Mass. Includes the original letter enclosure from Louis W. Belcher. 3) "NEW YORK/5 cts." red cds on 1847 folded letter addressed to General James G. Anthony, at Providence, Rhode Island. Lengthy letter contents from T. Underhill & Co. 4) "CHAMBERSBURG/Pa." blue cds and blue "5" rate handstamp, on folded cover addressed to John Monn, at Waynesboro, Pa. The cover has a couple of stains on the face, well clear of the postmark or rate marking. 5) "PHILADELPHIA/Pa." red cds, with manuscript "25", which is crossed-out, and re-rated with "18-3/4" rate, on 1843 folded letter addressed to Messrs.
