The Standard American Drawing and Lettering Book A Modern Treatise on the Art of Sign Writing Drawn and Arranged By Peter Idarius Expert Letterer Published by Laird & Lee, Chicago (1911) About this book: The pages are printed on one side only, thus the odd numbers (5,7,9…) are the ones with the content. More than 25 plates of alphabets in more than a dozen various lettering styles. There are also 2 plates of elegant monogram designs, more plates of various wood letters for signs that can be purchased ready-made. Instructions include information on spacing, layout, gilding on glass, mixing colors, color harmony and more. [1-4] 5-104, . 24 cm. 9 ½” x 13 ½” Condition: Boards are sun-darkened and show rubbing and spotting. Spine cloth is worn at the head and heel. Corners are bumped and rubbed. Front board is separated from the spine with about ½ of the endpaper still intact over the gutter, rear hinge has some play, but is holding. All leaves are attached. There is no writing or other marks. Pages have occasional finger smudges. One page has a tear –just under 2” in from the fore edge that does impact one of the letters illustrated.
