Stanley No. 5 1/2 Wide Jack Plane - 1948-ish I'd place this plane at around 1948. It has many of the features of the type 19 (1948-1961) with the exception of the frog receiver which is not the "Y" shaped variety as you can see. So, a few years after WW2 is my best estimate. Nice beefy casting and the condition is amazing considering the years past. Never any issues with rust and the japanning is nearly 100% with a little giving way at the toe and heal. Cutter is 7-13/16" long (barely used) and the wood is looking good with a few dings as shown. The lever cap is in fine shape as well. Beautiful, well preserved, almost 70 year old example is ready to take to the wood like the day it was made.
