About This listing is for aStanley Bed Rock 605 jack plane with a corrugated bottom. The body was manufactured in 1911 with some parts having been replaced (please read description below and see pictures). The iron has a 30 degree bevel. The body measures two inches wide and fourteen inches long. In 1911, Stanley made a couple of important changes to their premium plane line. “Bed Rock” was emblazed in the cast and the sides were given a flat top. But more importantly, the frog was now attached with a system of pins and set screws. Two pins with dimples press through the top of the frog into the bed. Set screws behind the frog engage the dimples on the pins and pull the assembly tight against the body. This made a very secure connection as well as easy to adjust. The 605 is a jack plane made for truing and sizing rough stock. But it is also useful in squaring edges for joining and as a smoother for producing a clear even surface. The corrugated bottom supposedly reduced friction against the surface and made the plane easier to use for extended periods. Item Description This particular plane is solid, square, and very clean.
