RARE - 5 STAR PIPE by LEE - Bulldog / Rhodesian LEE's HIGHEST GRADE Made in USA ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Pipe by Lee 5 Stars are rarely seen, as they were his highest grade, and relatively few were made. Lee made his pipes from just after WW2 until the 1970s. His pipes are somewhat underrated as they all show excellent workmanship, and added to that, he used only the rarest and finest briar for his 4 and 5 Star pipes. This pipe is from the 1960s, as the gold stars are inlaid and are 5-pointed. Earlier pipes had 7-pointed stars. This beautiful bulldog has very dense tight-grained briar with straight grain on one side and birdseye on the other. No fills, of course . A superb piece of old briar. Pipe has been lightly used - has a few fleabite nicks around the angled rim and a tiny dent here and there, as most any used pipe from the 60s will have. I cleaned the shank and stem with Everclear, and lightly buffed the wood and stem with hard Carnauba, nothing else. Not many pipesters own a LEE 5-Star - Here's your chance to own one. * My caveat for all used pipes I sell: This is an estate pipe, so expect a scratch or dent or ding here or there.
