In fact, it is more accurate in many ways. T is no printing on the back of this comm like t is on the MR. I think the body's shape is also more accurate (in my opinion, the MR version looks a little fat to me toward the bottom). Another important factor is the microphone grill. The MR version looks very two-dimensional to me. On this product, I've painted the screen with a goldtone paint and treated it with a special process to give it a 3D effect by highlighting the highs and lows. It is nearly indistinguishable from an radio grill-type screen used in the originals. Also, I painted the heads of the screws on the back black. A very nice touch. They almost blend in completely. This product is made from the same tooling used to build the props that appeared in the Deep Space Nine episode "Trials and Tribble-ations" in which the DS9 characters accidentally travel back in time and meets up with James T. Kirk and the TOS crew. As such, it is the only replica of a TOS communicator that actually appeared in an episode of Star Trek (the one you are buying is NOT a screen used-prop...it was made from the same tooling as screen-used props).
