This bear is a very special member of the Steiff family. He is a replica of an original black bear made in 1912. At the time he was known as a mourning bear as he was made to mourn the lives lost that year on the Titanic. He has since become known just as the Titanic bear. Unusually, his eyes are black but with red rims. This was to signify the crying which took place in mourning. He is made from fairly long black mohair, fully jointed and 32cm tall. He has cream coloured pads.
