ITEM DESCRIPTION: Sternau Coffee Machine Copper Coffee Maker Antique Samovar Urn c. 1903 OVERALL CONDITION: This auction is for an antique Sternau Coffee Machine 1903 Copper Coffee Maker Urn / Samovar made by the S. Sternau & Co. of Brooklyn, New York. This wonderful Copper Coffee Maker stands 14-1/2” tall and measures 6-1/8” from handle to handle on the urn and is a 2-1/2 pints coffee maker. The copper Sternau Coffee Machine includes the 3-footed copper base, the Sternau Burner (with a brass flame adjustment, a removable copper burner cap, and a brass fuel screw cap) which fits into the cooper base, the two-handled copper urn with brass spigot, the stainless steel percolator stem, the coffee filter, the glass globe (which is engraved "Sternau Coffee Machine"), and the black-knob copper top. The marking on the bottom Sternau Burner is marked “Reg US Pat Off, Trade S&Co Mark, Sternau & Co, Pat Feb 17, 1903, 865”. This remarkable Sternau Coffee Machine is in very good condition considering it is over 100 years old and shows normal wear. The glass globe has two minor chips on the bottom rim.
