Exquisite signed Steuben crystal swirl base bowl, a lovely piece with dynamic spiraling base and flared form to the bowl, from the Houghton period of Steuben Glass. For 100 years, Steuben glass has represented the epitome of American crystal. Steuben glass was made at the Steuben Glass Works of Corning, New York. The factory, founded by Frederick Carder and T.G. Hawkes, Sr., was purchased by the Corning Glass Company. They continued to make glass called Steuben. Steuben Glass is no longer in production.
