The Game of British East Africa, by Captain C[hauncey]. H[ugh]. Stigand, Horace Cox, London, 1909, first edition, boards, 4to. Pages xi +310+6 advertisements (one advertisement page neatly removed at gutter) A classic work on tracking and hunting in East Africa, by a British Army officer who served there and traveled and hunted extensively during the first decades of the 20th century. Profusely illustrated with photographs of game and spoor. Condition good, bound in dark green cloth embossed to look like crocodile skin, no stains, beveled edges, decorated endpapers, neat owner's name on front endpaper, rebacked, original spine laid on, corners bumped and worn, preliminaries tanned, foxing throughout, but a very attractive book overall. The binding is clean and tight, no loose pages or tears. Please study photos to accurately evaluate condition. The second page of the advertisements has been neatly removed, and the following pages (only) show a faint 2 inch water stain near the gutter (see pic).
