This is a real photo postcard of the "Stiles on the Deschutes" a gas station, restaurant and gift shop that opened in 1928 at the mouth of the Deschutes river w it flows into the Columbia. This was a very well-known establishment for many years. I found a later image of this same station in the Columbia Gorge archives, but it's obviously a number of years later. I suspect that this one was taken very soon after the establishment was opened. It is a great image, extremely sharp, with great gasoline signs, old pumps, old cars...this is a very nice card. It is postally unused and has one tiny black smudge on the back. T are no creases or tears. The corners are sharp. The photo studio who printed the card has this written in white ink in the bottom of the image: "No. 87 Stile On The Deschutes, 16 miles east of The Dalles Oregon 'W They Catch The Redsides and Steelheads"' and then the photographer's name, "B.C. Markham Portland, Ore." I will ship this anyw in the 48 states, between two pieces of acid free mat board for a flat fee of $1.75. If you purchase other postcards, they will all ship together for one fee. I have a couple more Oregon real photo post cards that i've just listed t were taken in this same area, at the same time, by the same photographer...feel free to take a look at the others.
