STIPPLED PETALS with LONG LEAF Back PatternPeach Opalescent Carnival Glass Banana Boat Bowlc. 1910Made by theDugan Glass Co.Indiana, PennsylvaniaApproximate Dimensions:4.5" (High)9.5" (Long)6.75" (Wide)4.25" (Petal Dome Base Diameter)This is a really nice peach opalescent carnival glass (iridized) banana boat-shaped, dome based, ruffled bowl featuring the pattern " STIPPLED PETALS " made by the Dugan Glass Company of Indiana, Pennsylvania, circa 1910. The back pattern is " LONG LEAF ."Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The iridescence is rich with a pleasant rainbow effect, and with virtually no rub or wear. The pattern is very well articulated (the stippling is phenomenal) and unmarred.A really nice and interestingly shaped bowl, and notice that the dome base continues the stippled petals theme. Just a really nice antique carnival glass item.No chips, cracks, or repairs. There are the usual internal air bubbles and straw marks (shearing tool marks) commonly associated with the hand manufacturing of old carnival and opalescent glass. Each piece of old carnival glass is unique, no two are exactly alike.Source : Heacock, William, James Measell, & Berry Wiggins (1993), Dugan/Diamond: The Story of Indiana, Pennsylvania Glass .
