This beautiful dark green stone axe/adze is from the Kamoro tribe of West Papua, Irian Jaya, on the island of New Guinea. This deep green jade-like stone is possibly rhyolite, which is native to the island. The axe/adze is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips and was purchased at the annual Kamoro art competition/festival, as seen in attached photos. The length of the handle is approximately 18" and the stone is approximately 12" in length. The lighter and varied coloration in this stone are hard to find and unique. Shipping is by U.S. Postal Service First Class and includes insurance for full value.
