George Junkin (1790-1868) was the father in law of Confederate General Thomas Stonewall Jackson , and the father of the general's first wife Eleanor Ellie Junkin Jackson (1825-1854).George Junkin founded Lafayette College in Easton, was President of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (also known as Miami of Ohio), and served as President of Washington College from 1846 to 1861 (now Washington and Lee ) in Lexington, Virginia. He is buried in Lexington, Virginia.Undated CDV by R. Knecht of Easton, Pennsylvania , made after Junkin's tenure as President of Lafayette (1844--1848) while Junkin was part of the Jackson family by marriage.
