2 Old Stoneware canning Jars/W Lids-c1900! Offered is a pair of vintage stoneware canning jars dating from the mid 1890s to around 1900.The lot includes: 1)--A heavy cream colored molded stoneware jar,8"tall(including lid).The jar has a sloped vertical ribbed pattern throughout the body,with the exception of the plain rectangular label space.The lid is made of a dark amber glass with an offset sunken cross design on top,where the wire bail would have snapped into place.Inside of the lid is embossed "Patd.Appl.For".There is a 4 1/2"crack in the top portion of label side,as well as a 3"hairline to the right of it with a small amount of missing stoneware. 2)--A 7 1/2"tall(including stoneware lid),cream bottom,brown top stoneware jar,having the original stoneware lid.Embossed on the top of lid is"The Weir/Pat'd Mar 1st 1892".There is a small area of missing glaze on the top of lip,not such if its a flaw or has worn off due to use.An unusual area on the bottom where the jar was sliced off the potters table while still moist. These are very heavy jars,will be shipped USPS Parcel Post.Weight is roughly 6#.
