Here is a lovely, vintage hardcover book from 1931. Printed and Engraved in Great Britain by Herbert Reiach,Limited,43,Belvedere Road, London, S. E. It measures 11.5" by 9". The 4 page preface is written by Martin Freeman, and talks about some history of the dog and the painter. There are 8 complete and beautiful color plates with a corresponding brief description of the artist and description of the original painting. The book inside is almost untouched. The gold gilt cover boards have some soiling and the edges have some wear and small bends. Not bad really. The color plates are attached to a beautiful page at one end only. I guess you could take them out to frame. All 8 are perfect. There are 8 artists depicting different dogs. There were other series that you could order and I included 2 old order forms. The ones listed in this book are Figure Studies,Landscape, Children, Ships &The Sea, Horse Studies, then it says others in preparation. The Dog Studies have the following 8 pictures. 1). King Charles Spaniels by Sir Edwin Landseer, R.A. 2). Diana of the Uplands by Charles Furse, R.A. ( Greyhounds) 3). Trust by Lucy Kemp-Welch. (Irish Terrier) 4). In the Lands of Dreams by Marguerite Probisher. (Jack Russell Terrier) 5). A Little Sporting Terrier by Cecil Aldin. (Westie?) 6). English Setters by ArthurWardle 7).Sealyham Terrier
