Fine Art Studio Pottery Stoneware Sang De Boeuf Vase by Tom Dennis approx. 9 inches high by 6½ inches wide at the waist, weight: approx. 2 pounds 5 ounces Offered is a studio art pottery stone vase by Tom Dennis in a dramatic sang de boeuf glaze with a classic form in the Asian art pottery tradition. It is well marked on the base with his signature and B.C. Tom one of a group of seasoned and venerated studio potters that make Denman Island, British Columbia their home, including Wayne Ngan and Gordon Hutchens, all working in the pottery tradition of Bernard Leach in the Japanese and Chinese pottery tradition. "Starting as painter I love the flexibility of clay, doing thrown and hand built pieces fired in a gas reduction kiln. A lot of my work epitomizes the beauty and drama of copper red glazes with black design. My work is strong, full of character, carefully formed and the ultimate in function." This hand crafted studio art pottery stoneware vase is a fine example of Tom Dennis' art and sensibility for a very refined style and would be a wonderful addition to your contemporay studio art pottery collection, especially one with a focus on hand crafted contemporary ceramics in the Asian tradition, and would make an eye catching addition to any decor or display cabinet.
