Vintage sterling silver and bronze coin brooch or pin! FREE SHIPPING WITH "BUY IT NOW" if you pay within 24 hours! This fascinating pin features a bronze coin bezel set within a sterling silver border. The bronze coin features the head of a Greek Goddess on the front and a Greek warrior and some words on the back. The sterling border is marked .925. It was hand made in Greece in the 1980's. I don't know if the coin is old or a reproduction of an old coin but my guess is that the coin is a reproduction. The outer dimension of the brooch is about 1 and 3/8". There is a stationery bale on the back so you can wear this disk as a pendant, as well, It would look fantastic on a string of pearls as well as a sterling wheat chain. What is so nicely done is that the center bezel containing the coin has an irregular shaped edge, giving lots of interest to the pin. The outer edge of the sterling and the edge of the bezel are shiny sterling whereas the recessed area is an oxidized blackened silver, giving the brooch depth and the antique feel. The sterling frame is thick and combined with the bronze coin, this brooch has nice heft to it. Really, really striking pin that looks as great on pearls as it does on the lapel of a blazer or at the neck of a turtleneck sweater. You could also wear this brooch on a coat.
