SUBLIMELY WONDERFUL XL VINTAGE FRENCH PURE LINEN SHEET WITH BEAUTIFUL MONOGRAM Description Oh my goodness, this sheet is a beauty, I love it when I find gorgeous sheets like this one. I'm sitting with it on my knee, stroking the beautiful cool fabric and trying to come up with a good reason for keeping it, as usual! The fabric is not the super-fine "pur fil" linen, it has more weight and body to it with a bit of character to the weave which I always prefer. A beautiful sheet, undeniably, but a lovely curtain or bedcover as well as it has a bit more body to it. This sheet is entirely hand stitched, of course, as you would expect with this quality. It is adorned with a wide double ladderwork border with repeating dots and topped with a heavenly monogram of the letters FS with an intertwining spray of leaves. This would have been so very expensive when new. It is best quality weighty pure linen and is such a chic and stylish sheet that will add instant glamour to any bedroom; quite heavenly! Please take a good look at the supersize photos to see the details. Fabric is a beautiful very, very pale stone/putty colour with the white embroidery thread giving a lovely subtle contrast. Laundered perhaps 2-3 times. The fabric is weighty and drapes well, it would make the most luxurious curtain to create that romantic "chateau chic" look. Sheets of this quality are such a pleasure and privilege to own, a nd complete heaven to sleep under, naturally! Once you've experienced a night's sleep under a pure linen sheet, you'll never look back. And an item like this is a real heirloom that can be treasured for generations to come; you are just a guardian. This sheet is in excellent unused condition. It came to me laundered and well stored. There are a couple of very faint storage marks remaining around the monogram (just visible in penultimate photo) which will continue to fade away in the next few washes. These are often referred to as the "carr é d'armoire" which literally translates as "square of wardrobe". Sheets were laundered and then folded with the monogram facing up; they were then stored in an armoire and the dust settled on the top and caused the storage marks. Let be a lesson; if you want to store linens, don't fold them with the decorative work uppermost! Having said that, storage marks are generally not a problem to get rid of in the long run. those that don't come out straight away will fade to nothing in 2-3 washes.
