It was published by The Folio Society, of London , and is the 2002 FIRST FOLIO SOCIETY EDITION . Suffolk countryside classic which captures the essence of traditional rural communities - life in a village, its diversity and its contradiction. Akenfield, the subject of this study, is a small agricultural community in East Anglia , about ninety miles from London . In spite of its physical proximity to the metropolis, Akenfield is in some ways very remote. Many of its inhabitants, native to the village, have never in their lives been more than three miles away from it.
