Suffolk countryside classic which captures the essence of traditional rural communities - life in a village, its diversity and its contradiction. Akenfield, the subject of this study, is a small agricultural community in East Anglia , about ninety miles from London . In spite of its physical proximity to the metropolis, Akenfield is in some ways very remote.
