SUNN 200S VINTAGE BASS TUBE AMPLIFIER 1968 This is the famous "original" Sunn bass amp that rocked the 60s. It was manufactured by the Sundholm brothers before they sold the company. Norm Sundholm was the bassist in the band The Kingsmen (of “Louie Louie” fame) and he was constantly blowing up and/or modifying his Fender Bassman amps. So Norm and his brother, Conrad, began building their own bass guitar and PA amplifiers in their garage in Portland, Oregon. Their amp designs were bullet proof. As word spread, the fledgling company took off and moved out of the garage to a larger building. Sunn produced some of the first high powered bass rigs in the late 1960s and were considered industry standards along with the Ampeg SVT. I n 1971 the Sundholms sold the SUNN Co. to the Hartzell Corporation. The company was bought by Fender in the early 1980s. The 200S shown was the most popular of the Sunn bass amps. Due to the limited production of such a small company, Pre '69 Sunn amps are relatively hard to find today. The most desirable and reliable Sunn amps are pre 1969 , when the power amp sections of the circuit and transformers were supplied by Dynaco.
