A fantastic addition to any collection. So the story goes . . . In 1964, Ancil Swagerty hand built his three sound hole Treholipee - a 4 1/2 foot long creature with a long curved neck and Paddle shaped tuners. The Kook-la-lee and Surf-a-la-lee soon followed and a scant 60,000 of the "Kooky Ukes" were produced and sold between 1964 and 1967. Endorsed by Steve Allen and sold in SoCal music stores and Sears & Co. in the late 60's. For the 60's pop culture archaeologist - the Treholipee comes complete with a COOL Rick Griffin cartoon of a hipster shooting a wave and strumming his kooky uke! CLASSIC! A MUST HAVE for any serious Collector.Available now - Not One but TWO Swagerty Specialties Company Vintage Surfer Ukuleles! The Treholipee features all original strings and strap - very nice shape - very few dings or scratches. The Kook-a-lelee has been re-strung and is in fine shape as well.
