Up for auction is an extremely rare sign from the roof of the Sleepy Eye Milling Co. This is one of two signs that were originally on the roofs of the buildings that made up Sleepy Eye Milling Co.This is the top half of one of those signs.........thought to be the only thing remaining of the signs from the roof of the building. The sign is huge. This section is 83 " wide and is 73 " tall (to the top of the iron work).I have a picture posted ,which I think is this sign when it was originally on the building. This is only the top portion of the sign. T were two signs on the top of the Sleepy Eye Milling Co. buildings. One sat on top of the words "Sleepy Eye Milling Co.",and the other sat by itself.I believe this sign to be the one that sat by itself. The sign was saved from a srap iron pile years ago. The sign was made on an iron frame that has diamond pattern wire mesh with-in the frame. On top of the frame t is some decorative curly cue's.On the wire mesh t are two pieces of galvanized tin that are cut and riveted to the wire mesh to form the Indian Cheif's head or bust. The rivets used were hammered flat by hand with a hammer. The sign is two sided so you can see the Indian Cheif on both sides. This sign section only goes to his upper lip.The sign has some damage....t is a section of the wire mesh that is bent, and t is dents on the read more
