This is a superb Blackamoor male figure. Was part of a recent house clearance w the owner was an avid collector of Blackamoor memoribilia. Dressed as a cook with chefs hat and portrayed holding out the apron. Open basket to rear. Has an overall height of about 12.5inches with a max base dia of about 4inches. Underneath an impressed mark: BU 492. Condition: considering the age, the overall ondition is good but it has been subject to early restoration to the front of the apron as per pictures with a small amount of similar restoration to base rim and basket rear as well as hat. Still has a minor chip to base. Besides being a very collectable Blackamoor figure from the 19th century of an outsatanding quality, would also look fabulous displayed.
