You are bidding on an ELIZABETH I THREEPENCE This is a superb example of an Elizabeth I threepence! Although this coin looks clipped, this was done at the mint. The bust and shield of the coin are beautifully struck and crisp. The low relief of the legend on the outer flan is due to the die becoming weak. This coin would have left the mint looking the way it does now. I have weighed this coin on my digital scales and it weighs approximately 1.5 to 2 grams although I would not say my set of scales is the greatest for weighing coins. The coin is dated 1587 and is a fantastically crisp specimen for an Elizabeth I coin. They are very scarce to find with such lovely detail in the Queen's face. You can make out all of the features very nicely. This coin would be a great addition to any coin collection! Please see my other listings as I will be listing coins from my late father's collection in the coming weeks. Please contact me with any questions you have. Thanks for looking!
