Fine Antique Gobelins Tapestry Panel Cushion/Pillow. A stunning Gobelins tapestry cushion/pillow late 17 th early 18 th Century. Woven in wools and silks and depicting a profusion of fruit, including grapes, apples and plums with leaves. Taken from the borders of a tapestry this cushion/pillow along with the other one listed in this week’s auction came from the remaining contents of a large Chateau in the Loire Valley…..the trim and the velvet back are later in date to the main panel. This Gobelins panel for its great age is in remarkable condition with just a few very minor splits (parting of the stitching) which in the whole complexity of the fabulous design are difficult to find. (Please see pics) The colours are strong and vibrant and the general condition is also good and strong.
