ITEM DESCRIPTION This auction for a superb genuine 17thC woodcut print by Paulus Moreelse (1571 - 1638). Entitled 'The Death of Lucretia'. It is a chiaroscuro woodcut, one line block in black and two different tones in pale olive and buff. Signed in the print and dated top left, 1612.Good clear impression retaining strong crips lines and tones.Measures exactly 10 x 13 inches.It came from a good single owner collection of early prints and engravings.It is in superb condition, light central fold, a few light creases, couple tiny nicks to the edges and minor light foxing bottom right, five very small pieces of tape reinforcing minute tears to the reverse.There is an identical impression in the British Museum, has the same central fold as this example.A fine piece of some rarity.Images are below.Please see my other items.
