A superb decorative silver cased German pocket watch, with a signed fusee verge movement, dating to circa 1800, in excellent condition and good working order, keeping good time. The silver case is in excellent condition and has decoration to the bezel ring and a decorative centre ring to the reverse which revolves to cover the winding hole. The cover hinge is in good condition and tight. The case is marked 'Regensburg' on the inside. The case measures 59mm in diameter and is 89mm in length including stem and ring. There are no dents to the case and no signs of any repair to the stem. I believe this case would have had an outer case originally ?. The convex enamel dial has a few short faint hairlines at the X & XI numerals and a small surface chip at the centre hole. The case has a high dome glass crystal which is in excellent condition. The hands are in good condition although slightly different gold colours. The decorative fusee movement has a verge escapement and is in excellent condition and good working order, keeping good time (keeps time to within 10 minutes over 24 hours). The movement has a silver balance cock decorated with twin eagles. The movement is signed 'J.M. Spath in Regensburg 40' (I think I have got the initials correct ?). The movement is key wind and set which work fine, modern key included. Rare collectors read more
