SUPERB v LARGE ANTIQUE REPRO SWEPT GILT PICTURE FRAME Description *** Please read all the information in the listing *** This auction is for a fantastic, very large, super solid, high quality antique repro swept gilt frame with bags of 'Baroque' style & charm & with impressive gilt slip. *** One of a few quality gilt frames I currently have on eBay, always happy to combine postage *** I' m n ot entirely sure of the date of manufacture but I would say at a guess around 30/40 years old, possibly mid-century, not quite an antique but great solid quality nonetheless. Superbly designed, with fabulous scalopped Baroque edging, has a fabulous curved 'foliate' wood design to the corners & edges. This is an extremely well made & impressive frame that would really do justice to a quality picture. It is a really thickset & large sized frame & measures 27 " x 23 " the interior measurements (for your image) are 20 " x 16 " . I've sold lots of frames like this, it's quite unusual to get one with an matching inner gilt slip. If you were to dispense with the slip your image size would increase to 23" x 19" . Condition is excellent, no major damage of any sort, age commensurate wear, really excellent used condition. It can be hung either Portrait or Landscape, depending on your image. It makes a remarkable prominent statement & will command attention in any room setting. A high quality handmade antique reproduction wooden frame, made to a very high standard. A distinctly decorative item with a profusion of Baroque 'neo-classical' appeal, has real drawing power, will look great grouped together with other frames.
